Happiness is the most important metric in Theotown.

  • High Happiness: People move in faster. High-density buildings spawn. You can charge higher taxes.
  • Low Happiness: People leave. Buildings become abandoned. Riots start.

Many players get stuck at roughly 80-85% happiness. The basics (Water, Power, Police) are easy. But to get that final 15% to reach 100% Approval, you need to satisfy the “Hidden Needs”.

1. The Hierarchy of Needs

Just like real life, Sims have a hierarchy.

Tier 1: Survival (Required for 50%)

  • Electricity
  • Water
  • Food (Commercial zones nearby)
  • Access (Roads)

Tier 2: Safety & Comfort (Required for 75%)

  • Fire/Police: They need to feel safe.
  • Health: Doctor coverage.
  • Waste: No garbage pileups.
  • Pollution: They hate smog and noise.

Tier 3: Enrichment (Required for 90%)

  • Education: Schools and High Schools.
  • Parks: Land value boosters.
  • Sports: This is a specific need in Theotown! You must build Tennis Courts, Soccer Fields, or Stadiums.

Tier 4: The Soul (Required for 100%)

  • Religion: Sims have faith. You need to provide Churches, Mosques, or Temples. These have a radius just like police stations.
  • Culture: Museums and Libraries.
  • Radio/TV: This is often missed. You need to build Radio Towers or TV Stations to cover the map. Sims want entertainment!

2. The “Sports” Need Explained

New players often ask: “Why do they keep asking for Sports?”

  • Mechanic: Building a standard “Park” does NOT satisfy the Sports need.
  • Solution: You must specifically look for the Tennis Court or Soccer Field assets in the Parks menu.
  • Coverage: These have a range. You should sprinkle small sports grounds in every neighborhood, rather than one giant stadium downtown.

3. Religion and Culture

For your Uber Mode population (TTT Wealth), Religion is mandatory.

  • Variety: Theotown provides various religious buildings. Functionally, they are identical. They satisfy the need.
  • Placement: Religious buildings often boost land value significantly. Place them in the center of your high-wealth districts.

4. Taxation vs. Happiness

There is a direct mathematical link between Taxes and Happiness.

  • 0% Tax: +++ Happiness bonus.
  • 8-9% Tax: Neutral.
  • 11%+ Tax: — Happiness Penalty.

Strategy: If you are trying to “Power Level” a building to upgrade to a skyscraper, temporarily drop taxes to 0% for that zone type. The massive happiness spike will trigger the upgrade. Once the building is built, raise taxes back to 9%.

5. Environment and Trees

Don’t bulldoze every tree.

  • Nature: Sims like trees.
  • Man-made: If you destroyed the forest, build Parks.
  • Noise: Trees block noise. A line of trees between your Highway and your Houses will actually make the residents happier because it dampens the traffic sound.

Conclusion

Getting to 100% happiness requires a checklist.

  1. Check the “Happiness” map view.
  2. Tap on a “Red” (unhappy) house.
  3. Read exactly what they want. “We need faith!” = Build a church. “Boring!” = Build a Radio Tower.
  4. Fix it, and watch your population explode.
